DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have problem bears?
Here’s my “Bear Bee Gone” recipe:
1 tin plate
2-3 cups wild bird seed
About 1 cup of hot sauce, use either Sriracha or Buffalo wing sauce.
Mix the seeds with the sauce and spread on the plate. Sprinkle a layer of cayenne pepper on the mixture and set it out where the bears are likely to be.
Do that before dark, and reload as necessary. This is not people food!
It has worked like gold for us nine out of 10 times, and it sure beats a bullet or bothering a game warden.

ANSWER: Well, I don’t have problem bears, but I’m sure some of our reaaders do. Thanks for the recipe!
DEAR READERS: Sun Spots’ memory must be slipping. One of her readers sent a message that she had some rolling chairs to give away to another reader who asked.
For the life of me, I can’t remember who asked. So, if it was you, call Katherine Lary and 491-3634. She has chairs.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: The First Universalist Church of West Paris will hold its annual Rhubarb Festival and white elephant sale on Saturday, June 3, 9 a.m. to noon at the church on Main Street.
This very popular event features everything rhubarb, including homemade rhubarb pies, cakes, cookies and more, prepared by church members and friends for this important annual fundraiser. There are still a few cookbooks available for sale, which include a section of rhubarb recipes. The event also features a white elephant sale — perhaps you can find that “something” you can’t do without.
So come check out the array of food, white elephant treasures, and spend a little time visiting with friends!
This year we are also accepting donations of gently used infant and toddler clothes, which the church will donate to the local community; a date for the distribution will be publicized when it is scheduled.
