TOPSHAM — A three-run top of the eighth inning paced Oxford Hills to a 4-1 victory over Mt. Ararat.
Cam Slicer led the inning off with a walk and Janek Lukska drove him in. Troy Johnson brought home Lukska, and Johnson later scored when Emery Chickering hit brought him home.
The Eagles (8-8) tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh off a fielder’s choice. Cam Cox and Hunter Lohr each had two hits in the losing cause.
Colton Cox went seven innings for the Vikings (14-2), striking out 10 for his fifth win of the season. Lukska picked up the save by shutting down the Eagles in the bottom of the eighth.
Mountain Valley 5, Boothbay 1
BOOTHBAY — Hunter Ames allowed only one hit and struck out nine in five innings in Mountain Valley’s 5-1 victory over Boothbay.
He picked up his fifth victory of the season, while John Pepin picked up a two-inning save.
The Falcons (11-5) did most of their damage in the fourth inning, scoring three times. They added one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings. Jon Adley and Garrett Garbarini each had a double in the game. Pepin also had two hits.
The Seahawks (2-12) scored their lone run in the the seventh.
Winthrop 3, Telstar 1, 8 innings
BETHEL — With the game tied, Winthrop scored twice in the top of the eighth to sneak by Telstar 3-1 in an MVC contest.
Bennett Brooks led off with a double and Matt Ingram drove him. Ingram later scored when Ramblers starter Antonio Meucci brought him home. Greg Fay drove in Cameren Gogham in the top of the second to give Winthrop a 1-0 lead.
The Rebels tied it up in the fifth with Devin Cole-Mason, Kellen True and Boston Ludden each getting hits.
Softball
Winthrop 13, Telstar 12
BETHEL — Kaleigh Oberg had a big day at the plate, collecting four hits, including two triples, in Winthrop’s 13-12 victory over Telstar in an MVC contest.
She finished the afternoon with three RBIs.
The Ramblers came back from a 10-2 deficit after two innings.
Moriah Hajduk had a double and a single in the victory. Kate Perkins, Layne Audet and Hanna Caprara had a pair of hits for the Ramblers (11-5).
Josie Forbes had three hits for the Rebels (7-7), including a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning. She finished with three RBIs on the day.
Aneah Bartlett and Tasha Hart also had three hits for Telstar. Luci Rothwell had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs while Sierra Ryerson had a pair of hits. Julia Cherkis had two RBIs.
Mountain Valley 19, Boothbay 0
BOOTHBAY — Emily Laubauskas struck out nine batters in a complete-game no-hitter as Mountain Valley rolled to a 19-0 win over Boothbay in the teams’ MVC softball season finale Thursday.
Abby Mazza led the Falcons’ offensive charge with four hits, including a double, and Sarah Bourret added a pair of doubles in the win.
Saydie Garbarini and Audra Bean also ripped doubles, and Bourret, Bean and Avery Sevigny all had multiple hits.
Boothbay’s Erica Earles suffered the loss in the circle.
Oxford Hills 7, Mt. Ararat 4
TOPSHAM — Lauren Merrill and Erin Morton each had two doubles in Oxford Hills’ 7-4 victory over Mt. Ararat on Thursday.
Merrill’s double in the third scored one in a three-run inning. She also picked up the victory, throwing a complete game.
Madison Day also had two hits, includling a double, for the Vikings (11-5).
Kate Guerin had a RBI double in the bottom of the third inning for the Eagles (10-6) . Mt. Ararat scored three runs in the inning. Guerrin also had a single. Zoe Stilphen and Katelyn Cox had a pair of hits.
Girls’ lacrosse
St. Dom’s 20, NYA 7
YARMOUTH — Caroline Gastonguay poured in a game-high 11 goals to lead St. Dominic Academy to a 20-7 win over North Yarmouth Academy in an season-ending girls’ lacrosse contest on Thursday.
Seven other Saints also found the back of the net in the win, including Emma Theriault and Kristina Cornelio with a pair each. Avery Lutrzykowski added a goal and three assists, while Izzy Frenette added a goal and two helpers.
Simine Long stopped six shots to earn the victory betwee the pipes.
