LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its June programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The center will be closed Fridays, except for Gardening with Ali and Grace, through Labor Day.

Dear Anita, Tuesday, June 6: Participants will discuss heart-felt and enlightening topics, share a story or listen to helpful topics.

Scrap booking, Wednesday, June 7:  Participants may bring a photo and get creative with scrap booking, or Bring thier own project.

Peasant Pantry Café, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 8: The Café features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the cafe will serve a dish from Turkey called Iman Bayildi (Stuffed Eggplant). The meal is open to the public free, and donations are welcome.

Ice Cream Social, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14: Also, the center will provide kindness activities during the afternoon.

Tour Sophia’s House, Tuesday, June 20: The center will provide a tour of the future Sophia’s’ House. Short walk – one block.

Summer Solstice, Wednesday, June 21: The center will hold a quiet reflection from noon to 2 p.m. to recognize summer solstice, when the sun reaches its most northerly excursion relative to the equator.

Ace’s Workshop, 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 22: Learn about Adverse Childhood Experiences and how they affect lives as adults.

Singing Circle, last Thursdays, June 29: The center will sing empowering songs, followed by a simple meal.

What’s Cooking?, Wednesdays, June 7, 14 and 21: The center will provide ingredients for guests to cook and create a healthy meal.

Women’s Healing Circle, Thursdays, June 1, 15 and 22: The center will continue to host Dr. Maryam MerJune as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal the loss of a loved one, a relationship, an ability, one’s home, the loss of one’s sense of self or any other source/s of grief through a life, giving and playful connection with the arts.

June Birthday Celebration, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 28: June birthdays will be celebrated.

Clothing giveaway, Thursday, June 29: The center will hold a clothing give-away during a day-long event.

The center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays. All women are welcome; programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower.

The center is also seeking volunteer applicants for companions. The companion role requires women to have a professional background in social work, teaching, nursing, chaplaincy or other related fields, and companions work with local women. The commitment is a half-day weekly.
