DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — William C. Stasulis of Daytona Beach, Fla., died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 29.
He was born in Lewiston on August 3, 1940, and was the only child of Walter and Anelie (Nellie) Simonovich Stasulis. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1959, where he was a star baseball player. His positions were pitcher and short stop. He played softball for the Lewiston men’s league with stints on the Bates Manufacturing Co. and Happy Jacks teams. He also enjoyed golf, tennis, racquetball and power walking.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1959, where he studied business administration and accounting at the University of Maryland and Orange County College, New York. He was stationed in Europe for three and a half years and was an avid athlete during his tours of duty.
After being discharged from the military, he worked for Commercial Credit Corp. of Lewiston. He joined Geiger Bros. in 1968 with a career that spanned 39 years. His time at Geiger included manager of the art calendar department, recruiting and training specialist and finally as a regional vice president of sales.
Upon retiring from Geiger, Gene Geiger wrote, “As an athlete for his entire life, he applied the principles of teamwork, hard effort, practice and sportsmanship to all he touched.”
He is survived by his son, Aaron of Thomaston; and two grandchildren, Isabella and Logan Stasulis of Rockland. He is also survived by Madeleine Dupre of Daytona Beach, Fla., a loving longtime companion of 24 years.
