AUBURN — Five speakers will share information from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m Wednesday, June 21, at the free Andy Valley Senior Expo at the Hilton Garden Inn RiverWatch.
Hosted by Maine Senior Guide, the expo will feature music and antique appraisals, 35 exhibitors and the Speaker’s Gallery. Plenty of free parking is available.
The schedule is as follows:
9 a.m.: Bedard Pharmacy, “Medicine Safety with Blister Cards.” 60 percent of people do not take their medication as prescribed, which leads to worse health outcomes. Bedard Pharmacy has a new free service for customers taking multiple medications a day. Medications are organized by the pharmacist in blister cards that show what to take and when to take it. It is presorted and packaged by dose and time of day.
10 a.m.: Kathleen Kienitz of the Law Office of Kathleen Kienitz, “Advanced Directives.” Kienitz will lead a hands-on workshop on advanced directives. Participants will leave with a witnessed advanced directive.
11 a.m.: Maine Emergency Management Agency, “Risk Management.” Information Officer Susan Faloon will talk about the risk of natural and man-made disasters in Maine. She will offer preparation tips for keeping safe.
Noon: Spectrum Healthcare Partners, “Navigating Knee Pain.” Learn the warning signs about knee pain and hear the options from Dr. Patrick Fallon.
1 p.m.: LA Hearing Center, “Your Aging Ears.” Dr. Ashlee H. Vandiver, Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA, board certified in audiology, will talk about the common ear-related problems associated with aging. She will discuss hearing loss and balance concerns, focusing on overall health implications and treatment options. There will be time for questions and answers.
