I just finished reading the letter to the editor from Tamera Grieshaber (June 15). It noted that about 21 years ago a committee advised Lewiston and Auburn to merge the two welfare departments with one director. It suggested a merger would have saved money and, if readers agreed, vote for the present merger of the two cities.
Grieshaber’s letter makes me wonder if a one-department merger couldn’t be accepted, how can the many departments of the two cities ever be combined?
I wonder what kind of a nightmare a merger would bring to the two cities and would it really save money?
