Voters in the towns of RSU 16 had their way last night — at least those people who bothered to vote. I know of at least six people who would have voted no, but they never went to the polls. Around the district, I am sure those people voting no would have prevailed — had they bothered.
Why didn’t they vote? With all the shenanigans of the past years, people know that if they vote no, they will be intimidated and humiliated at future town meetings. So, many people will vote yes in the next election and change rules so they prevail.
I will continue to vote no on the RSU ballot until any child I ask can tell me what June 6 means to them, or state definitively that 10 plus 10 equals 20, not that 19 or 21 is “close enough.”
