Extension ‘Cows and Crops’ e-newsletter
University of Maine Cooperative Extension offers a free online newsletter providing production and research information for Maine dairy and forage producers. Each issue of “Cows and Crops” includes timely articles, links to useful resources and a calendar of dairy and forage related events.
The e-newsletter also is suitable for those professionals who serve the dairy industry, such as crop consultants and feed, seed, equipment and fertilizer dealers.
“Cows and Crops” is one of the tools UMaine Extension uses to provide farmers, workers and families in the dairy industry with information to help improve productivity and profitability.

Indianhead Division seeks members
ARLINGTON, Virginia — The U.S. Army Second (Indianhead) Division Association is searching for anyone who served in the Army’s 2nd Infantry Division at any time.
This year the association will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the division, which was formed in France during World War I.
The annual reunion will take place Sept. 13 to 17 in Arlington, Virginia.

Shooting range monitors sought
AUGUSTA — The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking volunteers to help monitor public use of the shooting range on the Major Gregory Sanborn Wildlife Management Area in Fryeburg and the Summerhaven shooting range in Augusta.
Eligible volunteers must have or be willing to obtain training as a range safety officer, and submit to a background check. The department will cover the costs of NRA Range Safety Officer training for the right candidates.

JAY — The United Methodist Parish Thrift Shop is opened for the summer from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ?Saturdays.

Library summer hours
CARABASSET VALLEY — Carrabassett Valley Public Library is operating under its summer hours through Sept. 2.
The library will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
Ludden summer reading program
DIXFIELD — Ludden Memorial Library will presents “Build a Better World” during the summer library program.
Activities include “Weird but True Science,” a ventriloquist and magic show; an arts and crafts day; and a closing program with Sharon Garett and her miniature horses.
The 2017 Summer Reading Program is open to young people, preschool through young adult, with programs, prize drawings, and reading. Families are invited to join the Read-to-Me portion of the program.
All programs are free.
Registration for “Build a Better World” begins on Tuesday, June 20.
