LITCHFIELD — Andrew Day, 16, of Litchfield, has been chosen to attend the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders from Thursday through Saturday, June 29 to July 1, at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

The academic conference and honors program selects students from high schools across the nation who have a 3.5 GPA or above, and who are interested in continuing their education in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and Math) field.

Day has a 3.6 GPA and will be presented with the academy’s Award of Excellence at the closing ceremony July 1.

He is the son of Allister Day and Jim and Shareen Thompson, all of Litchfield.

Day raised $1,605 through his GoFundMe.com page to help pay for the tuition, room and board, and travel costs.

Day finished his sophomore year at Oak Hill High School in Wales with high honors. He was also accepted into the computer science program at Lewiston Regional Technical Center for his junior year.

His academic goal is to attend college specializing in computer technology, perhaps the cybersecurity field.
