OTISFIELD — A colorful procession of marchers and motorized vehicles highlighted the Fourth of July parade along Route 121 on Tuesday morning.

Members of the Otisfield Trail Blazers ATV club, campers from Seeds of Peace International Camp and Camp Arcadia, and members of the Otisfield Fire Department were joined by drivers in a convoy of tricked out classic cars and residents and nonresidents for the annual celebration.

Robin Valois of Massachusetts brought her 18-month old son, Sam, to the parade for the first time. She and her husband, who are from the Boston area, said they have been coming to Maine to celebrate the nation’s birthday for years.

“Our next parade is in Norway at noon,” she said.

Sam enjoyed viewing the parade from the miniature Ford pickup truck of his friend Eric Charbonneau, 4.

Eric’s father watched the parade from his ATV and smiled at his son’s concentration.

Many families brought along their furry friends, dressed in patriotic garb. There were also American flags displayed and candy thrown to spectators, who squealed as they ran to snatch it up.

“Parades are the best,” Valois said.
