BUCKFIELD — James E. Howe Sr., 73, of Buckfield and Bradenton, Fla., peacefully passed away Monday, July 3, with his family by his side.

He was born in Lewiston on May 13, 1944, to Phillip and Ruth Howe and attended Portland schools.

James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Diane; sisters, Maggie, Pauline, Alice, Barbara and Gail; his children, Debra Howe of Arizona, Deanna and Tim Curtin of Florida, Michael Howe of Rockland, Terrylynn and Don Strout of Oxford, Kevin Howe of Westbrook, Christina Howe of Portland, David and Melissa Howe of Buckfield, Tracey and Jeffrey McKinney of Buckfield, and Arvina Howe of Standish; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Edna and Vivian; his brother, Donald; his son James E. Howe Jr.; and grandson, Matthew V. Howe.
