Town investments
What happened: Tony Butterall, chairman of the town Finance Committee, presented a course of action for account with Morgan Stanley. The fund started with around $100,000 and has grown to $449,870.88.
What it means: According to the account manager, the bull market that started around 2010 may begin heading toward a downturn.
What’s next: Selectman voted unanimously to stay the course with the current investments per the account manager and Butterall’s advice.
Liquor license
What happened: The new owners of Brissons Trading Post, Geoffrey and Sushi Brisson, presented their application for a liquor license to serve beer and wine at their restaurant and store. The business is in the former Springer’s General Store on Route 37.
What it means: Selectmen need to contact the Zoning Board before they can grant approval of the license.
What’s next: If the issue needs to go to a public hearing, the Brissons will be notified. Otherwise, they will be informed of the board’s decision at the next meeting on July 24.
Storm damage
What happened: Parts of town received 4 inches of rain in a couple of hours on Saturday.
What it means: The road crew has been repairing washouts, including Blackguard Road, which will need between 1,500 and 2,000 feet of new pavement.
