GORHAM — Lloyd S. Bryant, 82, died June 27, 2017 at the Gorham House, after an extended illness.
He was born on December 3, 1934, in Lewiston to his late parents, Harold Windfield Bryant and Kathleen (Strout) Bryant.
Lloyd grew up in Mechanic Falls, where he graduated in the Class of 1953. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and attained the rank of sergeant until he was honorably discharged in 1956. In 1958, Lloyd married Mary (Greenleaf) Bryant of Norway, and they remained happily married until her death in 2000. He earned his master’s degree in education and counseling with help of the G.I. Bill, and worked in education his entire career, most notably as the director of guidance at Falmouth High School until his retirement in 1991. Lloyd also taught driver’s education each summer for the town of Falmouth and was an active member of the Falmouth Lions Club for many years.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his loving stepmother, Elsie (Knight) Bryant.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Douglas and her husband, Jeff Douglas, of Gorham; his daughter, Bethany and partner, Walter Cheek, of Maryland; his six grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, and Benjamin Douglas, Kayla and Kyle Nielsen and Remy Cheek; his one great-grandchild, Alexandra Douglas; two brothers, Jay Bryant and his wife, Penny, and Richard Bryant and his wife, Nancy.
