PARIS — Paris Public Library’s Novel Idea Book Club, adults reading children’s, juvenile and young adult selections, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, to discuss “Brown Girl Dreaming” by Jaqueline Woodson.

“Brown Girl Dreaming” has won three literary awards: the National Book Award, a Newberry Honor and the Coretta Scott King Award.

Jacqueline Woodson tells the story of her childhood in verse. Raised in South Carolina and New York, Woodson felt halfway home in each place. She shares what it was like to grow up as an African American in the 1960s and 1970s, living with the remnants of Jim Crow and her growing awareness of the Civil Rights movement.
