AUBURN — A Farmingdale woman whose car collided with a another car on New Year’s Day in Livermore, killing a passenger, denied related charges Friday morning.
Sarah Clark, 30, pleaded not guilty in Androscoggin County Superior Court to manslaughter, aggravated criminal operating under the influence and driving to endanger.
The charges are punishable by up to 30 years, 10 years and five years in prison, respectively.
She is free on her own personal recognizance. Conditions of her release include: no possession of alcohol, illegal drugs or marijuana, for which she can be tested at random. She may not have contact with the driver of the car in which the victim of the crash had been a passenger.
She was taken to Androscoggin County Jail by a Maine State Police trooper after her court appearance, where she was fingerprinted and photographed.
Clark was indicted Tuesday on the three charges by an Androscoggin County grand jury; that indictment was sealed until Wednesday.
The crash at roughly 1:20 a.m. Jan. 1 on Route 4 killed Shawn Berry, 41, of Livermore Falls.
Berry had been a passenger of a car driven by Brady Romano, then 37, of Livermore Falls. When Berry became sick, Romano pulled his car to the side of Route 4, police said. The car driven by Clark rear-ended the car in which Berry was a passenger, killing Berry. An autopsy confirmed he died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to published reports.
Police said Clark and a passenger performed CPR on Berry, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
