WEST PARIS — First Universalist Church of West Paris will have an open house for the community to bid farewell to Jim and Pam Burke, who are preparing to move to Charleston, South Carolina. They will spend summers in Maine.
Well known to the Oxford Hills community and his hometown of Mexico, Jim has been the organist at the First Universalist Church of West Paris for more than 15 years. He also substituted as organist at the Norway UU Church. Jim taught school for more than 30 years, mostly at the Agnes Gray School in West Paris, and later served as a technology integrator in Oxford Hills as well as regionally and statewide. Pam volunteered at the West Paris Library and Agnes Gray School. The couple led the forming of the Oxford Hills Ukulele Group.
The open house in their honor will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23, at the church, 208 Main St.
The social gathering is an opportunity for individuals to visit with Jim and Pam. Light refreshments will be served. Those attending should not bring gifts.
