POLAND — Poland Spring has awarded 18 $1,000 Good Science Scholarships to high school seniors planning to pursue post-secondary education in life science, physical science, earth science, engineering or environmental science or policy.

Scholarships awarded to local students include:

Mt. Abram High School: Vernon Romanoski, Olivia Scott, Avery Taylor, Sean Allen and Tiernan C. Tooker.

Gray-New Gloucester High School: Isabelle DeTroy, Morgan Brann, Riley Myhaver and Jordan Morin.

Poland Regional High School: Hope Dubois, Allison Kelly, Brooke Martin and Elizabeth Champagne.

In addition to receiving the financial scholarships, the award winners, their families and faculty from their schools were invited to a dinner and tour of their local Poland Spring bottling facility.

To qualify for a scholarship, each recipient prepared a short essay describing what environmental stewardship means to them. Applications were reviewed and chosen by a Poland Spring Selection Committee and scholarships were awarded in June
