WILTON — Local employers with jobs available hope to connect with job-seekers  at an event hosted by the CareerCenter on July 25.

“There are jobs, plenty of jobs, available everywhere,” said Mark Cater, CareerCenter consultant, veterans’ representative and job fair organizer. “Employers are hoping to find quality workers with the skill sets to fill the positions that they have.”

Opportunities exist for laborers, clerical workers, administrators, tradespeople, mechanics, medical administrators, hotel workers, engineers, carpenters, CDL drivers and CNAs, among other things, he said.

Fifteen to 20 employers are expected at the fair, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Wilton CareerCenter, 865 U.S. Route 2.

Employers planning to be there include Cianbro, Sunday River Resort, Nestle Waters North America, Western Maine Transportation, North Country Associates, Franklin Community Health Network, Arcadia New England, Irving Forest Products, Woodlands Senior Living, Manpower, TD Bank, Ted Berry Co., Barclays, Kelly Services and the U.S. Border Patrol.

Some employers, including the resorts, are looking for seasonal workers, but most are seeking full-time workers, Cater said.

Job-seekers are encouraged to come prepared to be interviewed. They should come dressed appropriately and bring resumes, if possible, Cater said.

If no resume is available, they are encouraged to get in to the CareerCenter, connect with Maine Joblink, hosted by the Maine Department of Labor, and register, he said.

Job-seekers, whether working now or unemployed, can create a resume and a list of their skills. All services are free, he said.

The good part about the new Maine Joblink, as opposed to the former Maine Job Bank, is that employers can look for candidates based on their skills, Cater said. By putting in a few key words, they can review candidates with those needed skills and reach out to potential employees.

Similar fairs have been held in Rumford and Oxford, but it has been over a year since the Wilton CareerCenter has offered a job fair, Cater said.

With a good turnout, more fairs, perhaps even quarterly, could be considered, he said.
