FARMINGTON — Two local residents are accused of breaking into a Phillips’ residence July 11 and stealing several items including video games, a TV, sound system and laptop, Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols Sr. wrote in a release.
After acquiring leads in the investigation into the Dodge Road burglary, Deputy Derrick Doucette and Chief Deputy Steven Lowell interviewed two suspects on Tuesday at the Farmington Police Department.
As a result of that interview, Brandy Pease, 21, and Shawn Burnell, 26, both of Farmington were each arrested on felony charges of burglary and theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and were taken to the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington, the release stated.
Once the arrests were completed, Lt. David St. Laurent and Doucette re-interviewed the pair and learned the location of the stolen items. Most of the items were recovered except for drug paraphernalia that had also been reported stolen.
Sgt. Michael Adcock of Farmington Police Department assisted in the recovery of all items since they were in Farmington.
A conviction on the burglary charge is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine. The conviction on the theft charge carries up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Pease and Burnell are being held at the jail on $5,000 cash bail, a corrections officer said.
