FARMINGTON — The Colonial Daughters Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, recently voted to donate a birch bark basket made by Hannah Susup to the Maine State Museum.
The basket was given to the chapter in 1954 and it has been displayed at the Farmington Public Library since shortly after that.
Suspup was the wife of Pierpole.
The chapter considered five museums and historical societies to determine which one would best fit its goals of preservation, visibility to the public, and proximity to the area where Susup lived.
Laurie LaBar, curator of history and decorative arts for the Maine State Museum, received the basket from the chapter.
