Smalls Falls
By Carolyn Gelland
I bow to you, Waterfall,
and converse with your
Egyptian scrolls,
a flotilla of parables,
bell-buoys
talking on the water.
Ferry in the Sunset
By Kenneth Frost
The oval ferry
stretches its mouth
and spins
around and around
the sunset,
chasing its dog’s
fleas of music,
slapping the water
in applause.
The cars blister
their windshields
in the red sun
and the bay foams,
flashing
porpoises
in the ferry’s wake.
