LINCOLN — A Howland man is dead after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Lincoln Saturday afternoon.
Police responded to the crash on route 2 around 3:30 p.m., where they found 50-year-old Jeffrey Ludden had died in the crash, and a woman who was driving the car had been injured.
Route 2 was closed down for hours as the scene was cleared and officers continued to determine a cause.
Daniel Summers, the Lincoln Public Safety Director, says the crash is under investigation. “We have the Maine State Police, they’re looking to map and reconstruct the accident, so we should have more once the reconstructionist finishes with the investigation.”
BDN reports that around 5 p.m., police were still in the process of notifying the man’s family.
Witnesses said that the store’s parking lot was nearly full when the crash happened and that the red Chevrolet sedan the woman was driving was heavily damaged on the driver side door after the motorcyclist went into a skid and struck it.
The driver of the car was taken to Penobscot Valley Hospital and her injuries are deemed not serious.
