PORTLAND — Mike Olt homered, tripled and singled, scoring three runs while also driving in three as the Portland Sea Dogs topped the Hartford Yard Goats 13-2 on Sunday.
Jeremy Barfield homered and singled with two RBIs for Portland.
Hartford cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth after Correlle Prime hit an RBI single, bringing home Brian Mundell.
The Sea Dogs extended their lead with eight runs in the fifth inning, including a three-run home run by Cole Sturgeon and a two-run home run by Barfield.
The Sea Dogs later scored three runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.
Portland left-hander Dedgar Jimenez (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on just two hits over five innings. Opposing starter Luis Alberto Niebla (1-5) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up two runs and three hits over three innings.
