AUBURN — Kris Charles “KC” Newton, 63, died peacefully at Hospice House in Auburn on Monday, July 24. He was a resident of Turner and formerly of Livermore.
KC was born on February 25, 1954, in Rochester, N.Y., to Fred and Dorothy Newton. He grew up in Greece, N.Y., and graduated from Greece-Arcadia High School in 1972. He was employed at various jobs in New York and Arizona, then later moved to Maine and completed his iron worker apprenticeship. KC was a proud iron worker for over 30 years. He had a strong commitment to his fellow members of Local 496. He’ll see you at the next big one.
KC enjoyed fishing, hunting and ornamental blacksmithing. He was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. He loved the company of his Great Danes. KC adopted several adult Great Dane rescues and gave them the love and care that they needed. Always the person that you would want to sit next to at the local tavern, KC was known for his quick wit and strong opinions. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Many thanks to our friends at Thatcher’s Restaurant for their ongoing support and well-wishes.
KC was predeceased by his parents; brother, Burt; and sister, Lynn. KC is loved and missed by wife, Carla of 30+ years; his son, Benjamin Newton; and Carla’s sons, Craig and Daniel Coulombe, whom he helped to raise. KC was especially fond of his nieces, Patricia Curran and Shannon Baus; nephew, Joey Newton, and their spouses and children. KC maintained contact with his closest childhood friends and fellow members of GVC in NY.
KC’s family wishes to thank the caring staff of Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice House, Mid Maine Medical Center, and practices at Central Maine Medical Center and St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
