AUBURN — Normand Armand Donohue, 92, of Lewiston peacefully passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Hospice House in Auburn with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Lewiston on June 8, 1925, a son of the late Martin Francis and Marie Rose (Rivard) Donohue. Normand grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools there.
After high school, Normand enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during both the World War II and Korean War between 1942 and 1949. After being discharged from military duty, he continued to work for many years with the Navy as a supply clerk and finishing his career at the supervisory level until his retirement in 1985. During that time, he married the love of his life, Cora Boisvert, on June 24, 1972, where the two of them would live in Lewiston until making a permanent home in Merritt Island, Florida, in 1992. He resided in Lewiston for the past six years with his daughter, Linda, and son-in-law, Donald LeClair.
Normand was passionate about the organizations of which he was a member, always raising money for charity. He loved family camping trips, fishing and hunting. He was also an avid walker and once attempted the Appalachian Trail. He kept busy by being involved with the Elks Club, American Legion, VFW, Toastmasters and was the Governor of Moose Lodge in Merritt Island, Florida. Norm and Cora also loved to travel and went to many exciting places together. In the meantime, Norm would also enjoy playing bingo or a round of golf.
He loved living in Florida during his retirement years and you could often find him combing the beaches with his metal detector. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is survived by his children, Norm Donohue Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Eugene, Ore., Patricia White and her husband, Ken, of Manchester, Conn., Maureen Berry and her husband, Steven, of Saco; stepchildren, Linda LeClair and her husband, Donald, of Lewiston, Michael Boisvert and his wife, Connie, of Sabattus, Kenneth Boisvert of Lewiston, and Gerard Boisvert and his wife, Rose, of Florida. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Cora; his daughter, Dawn Marie; his stepdaughter, Barbara; his stepsons, Jimmy and Daniel; and his brothers, Guy Francis, Patrick Joseph and Eugene Rudolph.
A special thank-you to Dr. Austin for his kindness and compassion and to the staff at Androscoggin Home Care. Staci, Brittney, Karen and Kina who became part of our family and also to the many family and friends who visited during his last six years in Maine.
