‘Growing Great Garlic’ workshop
FARMINGTON — University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer a presentation on growing garlic in Maine Thursday, Aug. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Farmington Grange, 124 Bridge St.
UMaine Extension garlic expert David Fuller, will discuss topics, including planting, growing and harvesting this popular crop. This program is designed for growers of all experience levels, including commercial growers.
The event is $10 and is open to the public.

Elder abuse presentation at UMF
FARMINGTON — The Gold LEAF Senior Institute is sponsoring a presentation by Betty Balderston, elder abuse prevention advocate at Legal Services for the Elderly Wednesday, Aug. 1?6?.
The presentation will cover common types of elder abuse and provide information on how the elderly can protect themselves.
The session will run from 10 to 11 a.m. in room 101 at the University of Maine Farmington Roberts Learning Center, 270 Main St.?

Mexico Trail Blazers to meet
MEXICO — The Mexico Trail Blazers will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, downstairs at the Mexico Town Hall.
This will be the first meeting of the season. This year the club will have a landowners appreciation day on Sept. 10 at the groomer building.
