Kelly Pulk, right, feeds Tommy the horse at the grand opening of Rising Stars Therapeutic Farm in Turner on Thursday morning. On the left is barn manager and property owner Kylie Lavertu. The farm is a project of Opportunity Enterprises, a nonprofit in Auburn that provides services to youths and adults with disabilities. Lavertu, the office manager for Opportunity Enterprises, has had a lifelong dream of owning a horse rescue service and has opened her property to this project. Along with three horses, the farm has goats, geese, ducks, chickens, dogs, a cat and a cow. Those who want to volunteer on the farm can sign up for cleaning stalls, taking care of horse tack or hanging out with the animals.
