LEWISTON — A new kind of pop-up bazaar is coming to Dufresne Plaza in downtown Lewiston. The inaugural Sunday Indie Market from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 20 will feature hand-selected artisans and vintage dealers, as well as a beer garden.
Live music will encourage patrons to stroll through the farmer’s market-style event, while food trucks will be on site to provide fare.
The monthly market will benefit the Lewiston public art fund and will be a family-friendly way to spend an afternoon.
Founders Sheri Hollenbeck and Sarah Horton joined forces after they realized they were both itching to bring this type of event to the community.
“Our goal is to celebrate all things local,” said Hollenbeck. “We noticed that there aren’t many businesses open downtown on Sundays, and we saw an opportunity to bring this fun, open-air style market to the Lewiston-Auburn area.”
The first three markets will take place Aug. 20, Sept. 17 and Oct. 15 in Dufresne Plaza, with an indoor winter location to be announced.
