Red picnic, bands at balloon fest
AUBURN — Festival Plaza will house a “trifecta” of events on Friday, Aug. 18, to kick off the Great Falls Balloon Festival weekend.
The Art Walk, which is presented by L/A Arts, will occur in the downtown area from 5 to 8 p.m. and will showcase a children’s book reading at One Great Falls Plaza.
The Red Table Picnic event, sponsored by Auburn Recreation, encourages the community to celebrate their “Red Eddies” history by holding a red-themed picnic in Festival Plaza from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The Great Falls Balloon Festival will present two bands, which will perform in Festival Plaza: Polarized Acoustic Duo from 6 to 7:15 p.m. and Rubber Band from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

First Auburn Seniors’ barbecue lunch
AUBURN — The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 16, for their Tot Lot barbecue, to be held at the Hasty Community Center at Pettingill Park.
A ticket is required for the lunch. Bingo will be played after the meal.
There were 50 members present at the last meeting. Attendance winners were Lucille Dick and Dolores Danforth; pot of gold, John Watson, Diana Pippin and Sally Gagnon; and, 50/50, Midge Demers, George Bourgoin and Robert Berry.
Bridge club lists winners
LEWISTON — The Lewiston Bridge winners on Aug. 7 were, first place, Richard Balian and Rick Verrill; second, Jan and Vern Arey; third, Mike Quinn and Mike True; fourth, Judy Abromson and Claire Lyons; and, first in C, Cindy Kirchherr and Jim Krainin.
Winners on Aug. 8 were, first, Sharron Hinckley and Fred Letourneau; second, Richard Balian and Les Buzzell; and, first in B, Georgette Jewell and Patricia Soule.
