ROXBURY — The Roxbury Riders ATV Club is hosting a ride to benefit Team Hailey Hugs and the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital on Saturday, Aug. 19.
Riders will leave at 10 a.m. from Club President Mike Worthley’s house on Route 120, just past Gallant’s Discount Furniture & Appliance.
Before the riders leave, a ceremony will be held at 9 a.m to present donations in the form of pajamas and money to Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital in honor of Hailey Steward, the inspiration for Team Hailey Hugs.
Several local groups have raised hundreds of dollars in donations and numerous pairs of pajamas for the children staying at BBCH.
Judilee Whittemore is recording secretary and a member of the Local 900 union branch, Women of Steel — a women’s only union group that works at Catalyst Paper in Rumford. She and the other members of Women of Steel, including Coordinator Linda Deane and member Maureen Adley, have procured about 40 pairs of pajamas to donate.
The Maintenance team of Catalyst Paper, headed up by Jim Allen, also a member of the Local 900 union, has raised money through golf tournaments held every month for a variety of charities. All proceeds from July’s tournament, totaling about $400, will be donated to BBCH.
For those interested in participating in the ride, a $5 donation will be asked for, and at the end of the ride, two-thirds of the money raised will go to BBCH and one-third will go to the winner of the raffle.
No food will be sold at the event, but a grill will be available for use.
For more information about the ride, call Worthley at 207-545-2715.
