BOSTON — Local students each received one of 23 Maine Red Sox Service Scholarships presented to graduating seniors from Maine public high schools this year. They were:
Shelby Cronkhite, Canton, 2017 graduate of Leavitt Area High School, enrolled in Georgetown University.
Amanda Alberda, Lewiston, 2017 graduate of Lewiston High School, Boston College.
Julia-Nicole Perry, Mexico, 2017 graduate of Mountain Valley High School, University of Maine Orono.
Cameron Loeschner, Topsham, Mt. Ararat High School, Thomas College.
Tucker Barber, Wilton, 2017 graduate of Mt. Blue High School, Bates College.
The students were presented their awards at Fenway Park prior to a recent Red Sox home game against the Chicago White Sox.
This is the scholarship program’s fourth year in Maine. It was first launched in New Hampshire in 2010 and now runs in all five New England states outside of Massachusetts. The $1,000 Red Sox Service Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic performance, financial aid eligibility and demonstrated community service.
