BETHEL — The Bethel Area Nonprofit Collaborative is partnering with Lift360, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening leaders, organizations and communities in Maine, to offer the BANC Community Leadership Program for the second year.
The four-session program runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 11, 12, 19 and 20 at The Gem Theater in Bethel. All four sessions are facilitated by Carol Aten, senior associate and program director for Lift 360.
BANC’s Community Leadership Program offers interactive activities and discussions with local panelists, community members, and volunteers. Nonprofit staff and board members receive leadership skills and comprehensive nonprofit board training. In addition to these skills, participants come away from the program with active connections to local nonprofit organizations and a network of colleagues to work with and call on in the future.
The Community Leadership Program is open to the public and costs $100 for the four sessions. BANC is providing scholarships to anyone for whom cost is a barrier. Membership in a particular nonprofit is not necessary. Cost is $25 to attend a single session.
Topics for each session:
• Monday, Sept. 11 — Overview, leadership styles and the nonprofit sector in Maine;
• Tuesday, Sept. 12 — Role of the board, board members and governance;
• Tuesday, Sept. 19 — Understanding nonprofit financials and the role of the board;
• Wednesday, Sept. 20 — The role of the board in advancement.
