NORWAY — The Planning Board will meet with two applicants for medical marijuana facilities Thursday.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.
During the board’s Aug. 10 meeting, Rob Laverdiere of Lewiston said he was leasing the former brick production facility of the Advertiser Democrat newspaper at 1 Pikes Hill Road from James Costello, with an option to buy in the future. He said he was looking to turn the building into a medical marijuana grow facility for his patients and was planning to “build self-contained rooms inside of the existing structure.”
Since growing medical marijuana constituted a change of use for the building, the board gave Laverdiere a list of requirements to be met before the site plan application could be considered complete.
Also at Thursday’s meeting, the board will hold a pre-site plan application meeting for Chris Getchell and Mike Gonzalez, who are seeking to grow medical marijuana in a building at 1 East St., which is off Cottage Street.
It will be the third medical marijuana facility to come before the board in the past five months, including Laverdiere’s proposed facility.
Other people on the agenda include:
• Tony Morra, seeking permission for two additional units at the Crane Block, 376 Main St.; and
• Lee Dassler, seeking preliminary subdivision approval for property next to Roberts Farm.
