Three prizes were awarded at the 30th Annual Winthrop Sidewalk Art Show held Aug. 19. The winners, from left, Marvin Jacobs of Belmont, won first place in the art category for his realist impressionism paintings. Jacobs has been attending the show for most of its 30 years. Janyce Boynton of Old Town won Best in Show for her whimsical and unique “Pinecone and Sparrow” art collages. Diane Harwood of Harwood Pottery in Winthrop won first place in fine crafts for her unique pottery with intricate designs. Sponsored by the Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber, the art festival drew 37 artists and fine crafters from throughout Maine. The show was judged by Clare Marron, owner of Monkitree gallery in downtown Gardiner, and Pam Coombs Turcotte, a Winthrop Grade School teacher who taught art and other subjects for 37 years until her retirement in June.
