Maine AMVETS were applauded for providing close to $1 million in services to the Maine veterans’ community this past year. DeWitt accepted the award “on behalf of all those veterans who no longer have a voice.” The silhouette project started by Linda Lajoie of Gardiner was displayed at the national convention. The 22 life-size silhouettes depicted Maine veterans who have committed suicide.
