LEWISTON — Androscoggin Retired Educators will meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Ramada Inn, Pleasant Street. Lunch will be pot roast with all the fixings. The cost of the meal is $11.
The program will be a presentation by the Lewiston Police Department community resource team.
Members will be collecting nonperishable food items to be given to a local food pantry. In lieu of food items, members may make a cash donation, which will be given to the pantry to purchase food.
AREA meets five times a year. The meetings are held on the second Wednesday in September, October, November, March and April. The October meeting is dedicated to the annual scholarship auction. AREA offers scholarships to local high school seniors who are planning to enter the teaching profession.
Androscoggin Retired Educators’ Association is open to all educators — teachers, educational technicians, administrators, secretaries, guidance directors, librarians. Anyone who has worked with children is considered an educator. All are welcome and need not have taught or worked in Androscoggin County or Maine.
Dues are $10 a year for educators, $6 for noneducator spouses or partners. Membership is free for honorary members — those 85 years and older. Indicate this status with lunch reservation.
Reservations must be made by Wednesday, Sept. 6. Send dues ($10) and luncheon reservation ($11) to Marsha Graham, 440 Mountainside Drive, Turner, ME 04282.
