Satellite Sky
By Jim Mello
Lying there face up
as the stars deepened
we joked
about
whether the satellite
slicing
the sky
right to left
like some cosmic
Hebrew
sign
was taking
our pictures.
As if on cue
other-wordly
moans
and almost-human
wails
electrified
the lake
calls
from disembodied
loons
invisible
in the ink of night.
