AUBURN — Edward “Eddie” Barker 90, of Western Prom, Auburn, died Saturday August 26, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, with his loving family at his side. He was born in New Vineyard, ME on May 22, 1927, the son of the late Maurice and Lona (Brown) Barker. He graduated from Farmington High School Class of 1945.
Eddie proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Asian Theater during WWII. He married the love of his life, the former Ruth Annis on Aug. 27, 1949. They had been married for 68 years. Eddie worked as a salesman for Eastern States Farmers Exchange, Agway and Telmark for 44 years.
His family was the most important thing to him. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening with them. Eddie prided himself on growing cucumber seedlings for everyone. He especially loved spoiling his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
Eddie was a 55-year Master Mason from Tranquil Lodge No. 29. He was an amazing storyteller, especially about his childhood, fishing, and adventures with his pony.
