PARIS — The Celebration Barn Theater presents Mike Miclon’s The Early Evening Show at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2. The show features stand-up comic Dawn Hartill, juggling sensation Michael Menes and Early Evening Show regulars Fritz Grobe, Tom Murphy and the Early Evening Show Orchestra.
The Early Evening Show, a spoof of late-night talk shows, has been performed from Maine to Switzerland and built its reputation with a 14-year run at the Oddfellow Theater in Buckfield.
Dawn Hartill is from Lewiston and a mom to three teenage boys. Her humor is drawn from her observations on life, marriage and the experiences of trying to excel at motherhood. She has performed throughout the state, most notably with Maine Event Comedy, at Portland’s Laugh Shack, at Lewiston’s Thread Theater and as part of the Portland Comedy Showcase. She is the 2016 winner of The Strand Cup Comedy Competition and was a quarter finalist in The Couch Summer Comedy Classic in Portland.
Michael Menes is a contemporary vaudevillian who got his start at the Barn, where he studied theater, mime and improvisation with director-teacher Tony Montanaro. His shows, featuring nimble antics and high-flying comedy, have been seen by more than 200 million people through appearances on international TV specials such as China Central TV’s International Humor Festival and Le Grande Cabaret du Monde in Paris, France. He has also performed for Cirque du Soleil, Royal Caribbean, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and at the Shanghai International Comedy Festival.
The Early Evening Show’s wild improvisations, surprise guests and audience interactions have made it the longest-running live variety show in Maine. The Bangor Daily News called it, “a seamless, hilarious production,” and CBS Sunday Morning called it, “must-see reality.”
Tickets to Mike Miclon’s The Early Evening Show are available for $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (60+), and $10 for kids (17 and under).
