AUBURN — Irene (Lamb) Jones, 98, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Clover Manor in Auburn from complications of pneumonia.
She was born in New Gloucester on Feb. 2, 1919, the daughter of the late Orland and Leola (Arno) Lamb.
Irene lived in Maine her entire life and graduated from Lisbon High School in 1936, and Pelletier’s Beauty School in 1939. She married Rolvin Jones in 1945 and they were married over 58 years until his passing in 2003. She worked at Gilbert’s Beauty Shop in Bath, and later at the Senter’s Department Store for 18 years until her retirement.
Irene enjoyed sewing, tailoring, cooking and spending time with her family. She liked to read about nutrition and health and always took good care of herself. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing and never lost her love for music. In her early retirement years, Irene loved to sight-see and visit friends and family with Rolvin in Florida.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Linda Mason of Lisbon Falls; her grandson, Scott Mason of Clarksville, Md.; her granddaughter, Karen Mason of Nashville, Tenn.; her three great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Audrey and Vera Mason of Clarksville, Md.; her sister, Eunice Woodcock of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Norman Lamb, and her younger sister, Pauline Small.
