BETHEL — Telstar struck first, but Hall-Dale had the last laugh Wednesday in the teams’ field hockey season-opener.
Georgie Marston rattled the cage with 41 seconds left in overtime to lift the visiting Bulldogs to a 2-1 win over the Rebels in an MVC contest.
Lauren Hendrickson had Hall-Dale’s first goal in the first half, and keeper Mia Rollins finished with four saves in the win for the Bulldogs (1-0).
Telstar (0-1) scored the game’s first goal off the stick of Madeline Hallett on a nice feed on a hustling effort by Olguine Lane. Telstar keeper Perry Morton also stopped four shots in the loss.
Oak Hill 3, Mountain Valley 1
LITCHFIELD — The Oak Hill Raiders came away with a 3-1 victory over the Mountain Valley Falcons in field hockey on Wednesday.
Desirae Dumais scored the opening goal off an assist by Maegan Sheehy. That goal was followed by Adele Surette’s goal with just over a minute remaining off another assist from Sheehy.
The two-goal lead proved to be enough, but Dumais added her second goal off a Zoe Buteau pass 23 minutes into the second half to make it 3-0.
Oak Hill’s Mackenzie Thibeault was able to stop eight shots on the night, but the Falcons got one by off the stick of Alyvia Lee with just four minutes remaining.
