LEWISTON — Walter L. Sturgis, 60, of Lewiston passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on the night of Aug. 27, 2017 at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston on April 20, 1957, a son of the late Walter and Anita (Poulin) Sturgis Jr. He grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools there. He was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1975.
On May 29, 1976 he married the love of his life, Patricia Hebert, and the two started a family together. During that time, Walter worked for over 25 years as a district sales manager for Coca-Cola. He was most recently employed by the Wise Foods Company. Walter enjoyed a successful career in sales including receiving multiple awards and recognitions.
Walter will always be remembered for his love, compassion, and ability to light up any room. He enjoyed being surrounded by his friends and family and being a beloved husband, father and grandpa. He will forever be referred to by his family and friends as the “Grill Master” during yearly family celebrations. He loved spending time with his beautiful granddaughter, Isabella Grace. He loved his morning walks with his two buddies, Roxie and Clyde. He had a strong passion for the New England Patriots, hunting, boating and being outdoors. He will be greatly missed by many.
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Sturgis of Lewiston; his daughter, Kathryn and her husband, Nicholas of Lewiston; and his son, Jonathan of Lewiston. He also leaves behind his brothers, Richard, Mark and Donald; his sisters Jeannie, Linda and Therese; his granddaughter, Isabella; and countless other friends and family.
