JAY — Selectpersons will hold a special meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Town Office to award a construction contract for the Old Jay Hill Road project in North Jay.
Five bids were received to rebuild a section of the road to handle heavy equipment or trucks hauling heavy loads such as granite curbing. The section is from the intersection of routes 4 and 17 to the access road to PolyCor. The company manufactures granite curbing.
Selectpersons opened the bids Wednesday during a special meeting. Wright-Pierce of Topsham developed a spreadsheet listing each item in a company’s bid that the board will be able to review.
The town was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Northern Border Regional Commission in 2015. Residents previously voted to transfer $50,000 from the 2014-15 Public Works Department budget to a grant program reserve account in June 2015 for the town’s share of the project.
• C.H. Stevenson Inc. of Wayne: $269,864.50;
• Cross Excavation of Scarborough: $338,795;
