Wednesday’s weather didn’t have the same drama as the storms of the day before, but meteorologists warned that the possibility of flooding would linger into Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Gray said rain is expected to keep coming from the west and the south, with the heaviest rainfall expected after 11 p.m. Wednesday.
A flash-flood warning was in place until Thursday morning.
On Tuesday, a late-afternoon thunderstorm dropped more than an inch of rain on the Lewiston-Auburn area in less than an hour. The storms flooded some roads, including a long section of Center Street in Auburn, and knocked out power to nearly 4,000 people across the state.
By late Wednesday afternoon, just under 200 people were without power, the bulk of them in Sagadahoc and Cumberland counties.
Mostly sunshine is expected in the latter part of Thursday, although the weather service reported that a chance of rain would linger into the weekend.
