LISBON – The town website will be getting a new look.
Councilors agreed during Tuesday night’s meeting to enter into a contract with Virtual Towns and Schools to update the town website.
The winning bid was $9,000, which will be paid for by Dingley tax-increment funding.
The current website is outdated and not mobile-friendly, according to Tracey Steuber, director of Economic and Community Development and Councilor Mark Lunt.
Councilors voted down the branding bid of $6,000 from Virtual Towns and Schools immediately following the website bid award.
“I just don’t see the value,” Councilor Norman Albert said. “It seems like an awful big cost and I don’t see the return.”
Albert suggested going out in the community to ask citizens what they would like to see for branding pieces and their thoughts on the potential of paying a company to do branding work.
Councilors Allen Ward, Chris Brunelle and Dale Crafts also voted against the measure.
Councilors unanimously voted to update the video camera security system at the Lisbon Community School to replace inactive security cameras and to add security to the outside of the building.
Superintendent Richard Green was unaware of the inactive cameras until last spring.
“This (update) would revive more than adequate coverage throughout the building and outside the building,” Green said.
Councilors authorized the School Department to spend $31,938 from the capital reserve fund for this update.
The capital reserve fund is currently at $92,229.
In other business:
• Public hearings will take place for proposed bonds on energy performance and wastewater collection and treatment system upgrades at the next Town Council meeting on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Lisbon Town Office; and
• A Lisbon Emergency discussion was set for Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Lisbon Town Office.
