POW, MIA remembrance ceremony
FARMINGTON — James A. McKechnie Post 10881, VFW, and Roderick-Crosby Post 28, American Legion, will hold a POW and MIA remembrance ceremony at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at Meeting House Park.
Sons of Italy to meet
RUMFORD — Sons of Italy 467 will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, at the lodge.
There will be a light lunch, and guests are welcome.
The Labor Day raffle winners were Kim Garneau and Reginald Arsenault.
Socrates Cafe to meet
BRIDGTON — Socrates Cafe will meet at 6:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, at the Bridgton Community Center.
The discussion topic will be “What Makes Art Art?” with moderator Robert Casimiro.
Light refreshments will be provided.

Historical Society to meet
WEST PARIS — The West Paris Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m Monday, Sept. 18.
It will start with a potluck supper. A business meeting will take place at 7 p.m.
The Oxford Hills Ukelele Group will entertain at 7:30 p.m.

Library seeks donations for festival
WEST PARIS — The Friends of the West Paris Library are looking for donations of handmade crafts and baked goods for the Fall Festival to be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the West Paris Historical Society across the street from the library.
The event will include the annual used book sale, as well as the sale of crafts and baked goods. All proceeds will go to library programs and projects. Free coffee, hot cider and music will add to the festivities.
In addition, six themed baskets will be raffled off. These baskets will be on display, and tickets may be purchased at the library beginning Friday, Sept. 15.
Those who are a crafter, enjoy baking or have spare books around the house and are willing to donate any of these items to help with this Fall Festival sale, they may be dropped off at the library any time before Saturday, Oct. 14.
