WALES — Sydney Drew found the net in overtime to give Oak Hill a 3-2 win over Monmouth in a key Mountain Valley Conference matchup on Tuesday.
Julia Noel and Eliza Whisenant also tallied for the Raiders (4-0-0) to complete the scoring. Tia Day and Audrey Fletcher each scored a goal for the Mustangs (3-1-0).
Anna Dodge made 13 saves for Oak Hill, while Destiny Clough deflected 10 shots for Monmouth.
Morse 3, Leavitt 1
TURNER — Morse got on board with just under two minutes left in regulation to pull out a 3-1 win over Leavitt in a girls’ soccer tilt Tuesday.
Rosa Atienza redirected a pass from Julia Goddard to put the Shipbuilders on the board. Emily Martin scored two goals for Morse to allow for some breathing room.
Sophie Gilbert converted for the Hornets off a nice pass from Ally Ryan. Marissa Parks made 11 saves for Morse, while Shelby Varney turned aside seven shots between the posts for Leavitt.
Brunswick 4, Mt. Ararat 0
TOPSHAM — Lea Scrapchansky and Maeve Arthur each netted a pair of goals Tuesday as Brunswick rolled to a 4-0 girls’ soccer win over Mt. Ararat.
Emily Larochelle also contributed for the Dragons with two assists, while Emma Banks and Scrapchansky also dished off assists.
Beth Labbe made six saves for Brunswick, while Zoe Stilphen turned aside 24 shots between the posts for Mt. Ararat.
Spruce Mountain 7, Telstar 2
BETHEL — Allison Acritelli registered a hat trick on Tuesday to propel Spruce Mountain to a 7-2 girls’ soccer victory over MVC rival Telstar.
Sydney Letalien, Hanna St. Pierre, Calley Baker and Emily Baker also tallied for the Phoenix to complete the scoring. Aneah Bartlett and Autumn Harrison each scored a goal for the Rebels.
Annabelle Collins made 11 saves for Spruce Mountain, while Abby Harrington deflected 10 shots for Telstar.
Greely 4, Gray-New Gloucester 0
GRAY — Four different players scored as Greely dispatched Gray-New Gloucester 4-0 in girls’ soccer action Tuesday evening.
The Rangers (4-1) led 1-0 at the half. Greely outpaced the Patriots (1-3) in shots on goal by a margin of 17-6.
Goalie Chelsea Davis made six saves for Gray-New Gloucester, while goalie Camille Clement turned back three to earn the win in net for Greely.
Lisbon 5, Winthrop 2
WINTRHOP — Giana Russo netted an impressive four goals as Lisbon topped Winthrop 5-2 in girls’ soccer action Tuesday evening.
Emma Houle rounded out the scoring for the Greyhounds. The lone Ramblers’ goal was scored by Sierra Huff.
Goalie Sam Moody had five saves for Winthrop, while goalie Anna Wiley prevented five shots to earn the win in net for Lisbon.
Field hockey
Messalonskee 6, Edward Little 1
AUBURN — Chloe Tilley netted a pair of goals Tuesday to lead Messalonskee to a 6-1 victory over Edward Little in a local field hockey matchup.
Autumn Littlefield, Megan Quirion, Ally Turner and Annie Corbett also tallied for the Eagles (4-0) to complete the scoring. Grace McBride tallied the Red Eddies’ lone goal.
Rylie Genest made four saves for Messalonskee, while Elise Syphers turned aside 14 shots between the posts for Edward Little.
St. Dom’s 5, Poland 3
POLAND — Paige Cote registered a hat trick on Tuesday as St. Dom’s hustled to a 5-3 field hockey win over Poland.
Hannah Trottier-Braun chipped in for the Saints with two goals, while Kylie Leavitt and Caroline Johnson contributed with assists.
Olivia Bell led the Knights with a pair of goals, while Bri Doucette also tallied.
Abigail Slonina earned the win for St. Dom’s, while Ashton Sturtevant deflected 17 shots for Poland.
Camden Hills 4, Lewiston 0
LEWISTON — Halsey Yattaw netted a pair of goals to propel Camden Hills to a 4-0 field hockey victory over Lewiston on Tuesday.
Greta Bishop and Alison Linaves also tallied for Camden Hills to complete the scoring.
Jenna Stearns made nine saves for Camden, while Ashley Cronkhite turned aside four shots for Lewiston.
Fryeburg 2, Gray-New Gloucester 0
GRAY — Heather Howard and Kirsten Wentworth each scored a goal on Tuesday as Fryeburg hustled to a 2-0 field hockey win over Gray-New Gloucester.
Fryeburg outshot their opponent 7-1 in the offensively-lopside contest.
Alicia Credit made five saves for the Patriots (0-3).
Boys’ soccer
Traip 3, St.Dom’s 0
KITTERY — Traip pulled a way in the second half en route to a 3-0 victory over St. Dom’s in boys’ soccer action Tuesday afternoon.
Charlie Driscoll, Frankie Driscoll and Devon LaRoche each had a goal for the Rangers (4-0). Ryan Perkins had an assist.
Jayce Nielsen made nine saves in the victory while Matt Gosselin made two and Bryton Kieltyka made three for St. Dom’s (0-3).
Mt. Blue 0, Cony 0
AUGUSTA — Regulation and two overtimes couldn’t decide a winner as Mt. Blue and Cony finished in a scoreless tie.
The Cougars outshot the Rams 17-9 and had a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Mt. Blue’s best chance to score came in the second overtime session. The Cougars controlled the possession for most of the game.
Hunter Bolduc helped stopped the Rams’ counter attack in the second half en route to making six saves for Mt. Blue (2-0-1). Hussein Al Braihi made 12 saves for Cony (2-0-2).
College volleyball
Bates 3, Southern Maine 1
LEWISTON — The Bates College volleyball team overcame a hot start by the University of Southern Maine, losing the first set before rallying to defeat the Huskies 3-1 in their home opener Tuesday night at Alumni Gymnasium.
Following a 25-14 defeat in the first set, the Bobcats (3-2) regrouped in the second, starting out with a kill by junior Reilly Murphy and posting a 7-1 lead on Ruby Lighbourn’s kill.
Bates again established early control in the third set, posting a 9-4 lead before USM fought back with a 5-3 run. A countersurge by Bates finished out the set for a 25-14 final count.
Taylor Stafford-Smith and Naughton combined for nine kills with no attack errors on 14 attempts in the set.
Stafford-Smith posted five kills again in the decisive fourth set, and setter Jacqueline Forney was pressed into making seven digs to close out the match.
