LEWISTON — Popular singer and pianist Louis Philippe will provide the entertainment at the next La Rencontre starting at 11:25 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at L/A’s Gendron Franco Center, 46 Cedar St. The cost of the meal and program is $10 a person. The doors open at 10 a.m.
The home cooked meal is oven-fried chicken, with rice pilaf and string beans, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. Parking is included in the price of the ticket.
After the meal, Philippe, will present an encore performance, including French and English songs with an occasional intermingling of humor.
A Lewiston native, based now in Portland, he is the brainchild of Reindeer Records, a small, grass-roots label that continues to bring music, business experience and career exposures to entry-level artists.
Philippe has a number of CDs available, including “La Vie En Rose – A Tribute to Piaf” and “Father Frenchie Comes to Lewiston.” Several raffle prizes will be drawn at the end of the event.
La Rencontre (the gathering) is not restricted to French speakers or those of Franco descent. All are welcome to attend the monthly meal and event, as long as spots remain open.
The center is handicapped accessible and is located on the corner of Cedar and Oxford streets in the “Little Canada,” across the Bernard Lown Peace Bridge from New Auburn.
