MEXICO — The Mexico Bicentennial Committee will be at the Cruise-In at the Abbott Farm Plaza, Route 2, Rumford, on Saturday, Sept. 16. The committee will have for sale T-shirts, hoodies, ceramic “spooner” mugs, sip ‘n’ flip aluminum mugs and commemorative coins.
The committee is looking at other places for sales and has confirmed that it will participate in the Pumpkin Fest on Congress Street on Saturday, Oct. 14, and the Oktoberfest at the Hope Association on Saturday, Oct. 21.
The committee would consider participating in a craft/vendor fair. Send information to Marilla Couch, 412 Knox St., Apt. 2, Rumford, ME 04276 or call her at 207-418-1729. Leave a message.
The committee needs community help in making at least two quilts. Members have muslin quilt squares to be decorated. The squares may be decorated in any appropriate permanent crafting method. One finished quilt will be donated to the Mexico Town Office, and any additional quilts will be raffled during the bicentennial year. More information will be available at the tables mentioned above.
There will also be a free Bicentennial Quilting Course through Region 9 on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 14 and 15, with four teachers available to show people a variety of ways to create a square. Contact Region 9 for more information.
Mexicopoly Games are expected soon. If anyone has pre-ordered a game, someone should be contacting them for pickup.
