Welles Remy Crowther, May 17, 1977 — Sept. 11, 2001, was an American equities trader known for saving at least a dozen lives during the Sept. 11 attacks in New York City, during which he lost his own life?.? The students then went outside to hang a red bandana from the flag in remembrance. Crowther was known as the man in the red bandana and he was a 9/11 hero.
